Sometimes things just click. Civic Music Association was looking to expand their concert line-up, by including something a little outside the box. The Soul Rebels is the type of band that definitely does not fit into a nice little box. Bring the funk, soul, jazz, hip hop, R&B, blues and smash it all together to create an unforgettable concert experience. To top it off, a smart partnership with Greater Des Moines Music Coalition for The Soul Rebels to headline their Little BIG Fest was formed.

The Soul Rebels will be releasing a mix and remix tape in late October featuring popular songs such as Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and a Jay-Z Medley. Combined with their recently released Unlock Your Mind album, their heavy brass and funky rhythms will keep you moving even after the performance ends.

Formed in New Orleans by Derrick Moss and Lumar LeBlanc, their purpose was to combine the music they loved with the brass band tradition that shaped their upbringing. The outcome is a contagious sound that brings down the house at their local New Orleans weekly spot and jazz festivals throughout the nation. Expect to get down with this lively, eclectic ensemble.

The Soul Rebels play at Little Big Fest on November 15th at Wooly’s at 8:30pm.
