Gross Domestic Product is less than a week away! We snagged interviews with the 19 bands playing this awesome music festival. Today we’re highlighting the six acts rocking on the Vaudeville Mews Outdoor Patio Stage (which is totally free, kids!).

Madison Ray and All The Single Ladies: GDP is a great testament to the talent that is here in our own communities!
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
MRATSL: It’s a toss up between Is Home Is and Trouble Lights…we have been told that our bands should be friends.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
MRATSL: We have our eyes set on getting into the festival scene, touring the Midwest, and making more friends through music.
TWINS– 6:30-7:15pm

T: Ok, one reason playing GDP is so cool? Wow, there are soooo many!! I would say having a chance to perform our songs for such an incredible group of people, the fans, and the other musicians. We’ve been knocked out by the Des Moines music fans and obviously the musicians currently working in the area are the absolute cream of the crop. We’re humbled and honored to bring our music to a very diverse and triumphant Iowa music festival!!
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
T: I know my drummer Luke and I are especially stoked to see H.D. Harmsen. We’ve been geeking out about his music lately. I’m also excited to hear Jordan Mayland & the Thermal Detonators and its always nice hearing what our old friends in The Wheelers and The Olympics have been working on.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
T: Our upcoming plans for Twins is recording our next record this summer, playing shows and releasing a split 7 inch with Bob Bucko Jr. from Dubuque. And spending time with our guitar player Harper’s brand new baby son Maxwell!
Kris Adams– 7:30-8:15pm

Kris Adams: The focus on local music is the highlight for me. There are no headliners here, just us and our music. Boom!
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
KA: Dustin Smith & the Sunday Silos. I have seen them live before. They have a great ear for the groove and have a Citizens Cope kind of feel to them.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
KA: Setting up a broke mans tour for the summer. I’m checking out what trains I can sneak on and luggage I can fit in at the moment. BANG!
Annalibera– 8:30-9:15pm
Band Bombshell: Give us one reason playing GDP is so cool.
Annalibera: Before this year, I’ve gone as an audience member and I’ve always come away inspired. GDP is a high energy night where you can see local acts left and right, all night! My band is pumped to share our music with a new crowd of people!
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
A: I’m excited to see the Wheelers because it’s Phil’s band and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never seen them somehow! Also pumped for Seed of Something. I haven’t seen them for a long time. I know my bandmates have been huge fans of HOLS.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
A: Right now, we are having a lot of fun playing shows and steadily recording our album. Phil, Chris, and Ryan have other projects (The Wheelers, Tires, The River Monks), so usually at least one person is out of town touring or something. We will be releasing the album at the end of summer this year and touring to support it after that.
Dustin Smith & The Sunday Silos– 9:30-10:15pm

Dustin Smith: GDP is local! A festival that represents the hard work and broad spectrum of talent circulating through our city and state. Also a new location this year brings a really fresh and new aspect to this annual festival.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
DS: The Line-up is bringing lots of new faces out which is the most exciting part. However, I’ve heard a lot of sneak peaks at H.D. Harmsen and The Electrophones new record as well as Annalibera’s new record. Can’t help but be jacked to see their full ensembles tear it up.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
DS: DSmith and The Sunday Sillos are in new material mode. Expect to hear a lot of new tracks coming this Summer as well as some hot videos that are in the works right now. We are also focusing a lot on getting out of town to share our music and promote our ever-loving city and state.
MR. NASTI– 10:30-11:30pm

MR. NASTI: I’m super stoked to play GDP because I just moved to Iowa, and I have a strong love for the music scene all across this state. I couldn’t be more excited to perform at GDP for the first time, and to see all the other amazing bands that are playing this year.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
MN: I’m really stoked to see Trouble Lights, Annalibera, Lesbian Poetry, Is Home Is, and Jordan Mayland. I’m sure I’ll find out about a bunch of other really awesome Iowa musicians through this experience as well!
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
MN: My music plans for the moment are largely based in giving back to the amazing community of Fairfield, Iowa. I’m currently working hard with some friends to boost Fairfield’s music scene in a number of ways. I’m opening a restaurant there called The Gardens, which has a beautiful venue space in the back called The Beauty Shop. We have some great shows coming up there, plus we’re setting up a block party in Fairfield on May 18th called the 3rd Street Culture Fest.
