Gaining momentum in venues across Iowa and the Midwest, a high energy collective out of Des Moines known as Mighty Shady (Eric McCoy, Chris Freier, Jared Murphy, Joel Schwichtenberg, and Keenan McBroom) tastefully combine Rock/Reggae/Funk with other diverse influences to create their signature sound since 2012. Their performances are highlighted with dual guitars, a groovy rhythm section, and powerful vocal harmonies. Mighty Shady was busy this summer with playing national festivals including Wakarusa and 80/35 Music Festival, as well as a handful of regional festivals including Adventure Camp, Dangerfest, Briar Patch, Shwagstock, Family Gathering, and Little Big Fest. And while these talented musicians find inspiration in the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Sublime, and Tame Impala, their alt rock is original, seamlessly packing the dance floor with funky grooves. Meaningful lyrics add depth to the group's dynamic draw and have helped build a loyal fan base that continues to explode in 2014 with the highly anticipated and well-received release of their first full length album titled "DoubleThink." They have shared the stage with many talented acts such as Dopapod, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Roster McCabe, Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, Family Groove Company, Indigosun, Dead Larry, Zeta June, Aitas, Firesale, and Useful Jenkins.
