Jordan Mayland & The Thermal Detonators — 5:15-6:00pm

Jordan Mayland: It’s an absolute thrill to be recognized and accepted, honestly. I’ve admired the Des Moines art scene for some time. The arrangement for The Thermal Detonators is a lot different than other things I’ve done in the past, so I’m real excited to share this group in such an eclectic environment.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
JM: That’s such a hard question to answer. I’m lucky enough to consider myself a close friend to many bands playing, so I’m always going to be supporting Annalibera, Wolves in the Attic, Trouble Lights, Twins…honsetly, most of the groups. I’ll probably be bouncing around to different stages a lot and catching as much as I can. I’m a ’90s rock guy so getting to hear the reformed House of Large Sizes will be a cool experience.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
JM: I’m always busy with different projects. I’m just finishing up recording my 2nd album for The Thermal Detonators. It will be a lot different than the first EP. Then I’m excited to start recording a full band album with our new songs. Volcano Boys are going to be finishing our first full length this spring as well. The Wheelers are putting out a full length on Vinyl with Maximum Ames and hitting the road this summer for a bit. There’s a lot to look forward to. It will be a good year.

As For You: The reason we are super stoked for GDP this year is that we have been turned down 4 years in a row with our previous band, with us starting As For You from scratch less than a year ago, it shows us that hard works pays off.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
AFY: I cant speak for everyone in the band but im am most exited to see handlebar and Land of blood and sunshine. (Harpo)
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
AFY: We just released our first album and we are already back in the practice space writing new music! We have some good sized shows coming up within the next few months and we will continue to travel as much and as far away as we can to pump the good word of AFY!

Land of Blood & Sunshine: Being a part of the Gross Domestic Product showcase is a nice acknowledgement. Some of the people that run things behind the curtain write great music. We are glad our music has reached them. GDP has a really positive atmosphere. Although the bands have a lot of different sounds, we are all still connected.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
LBS: We are eager to see many of the bands. A few that stick out to us are The Seed of Something, Wolves in the Attic, and Mr. Nasti.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
LBS: We are going to continue making records until we all die, so for at least a couple more years. We also run a small label called Very Nice Dementia, and have some really awesome bands and song makers. Brooks Strause, Adam Bolts, and others. Check them out. Please. They are amazing.

Handlebar: GDP is cool, because of the variety of music genres showcased.
BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?
H: The Wheelers–cool dudes who we have never seen live, but their singer Greg married a high school friend of ours.
BB: What are your upcoming music plans?
H: Write music, play loud, party with fans, rinse and repeat.
