Drumroll please, for the almighty Thao Nguyen. Folk rock, indie pop, whatever you want to call it, Thao’s music is catchy AF. Anchored by her Cat Power-esque singing voice and airy arrangements, Thao’s music is ever-evolving and hard to categorize. It’s the kind of music that you find yourself inexplicably dancing to and don’t remember starting, all you know is you just got hit in the face with some Thao.

From the quirky, melodic song “Holy Roller” off the 2013 album “We the Common” to “Meticulous Bird” off the 2016 album “A Man Alive” where her verses flow like the illest of emcees, Thao can flow between the changes in tempo seamlessly, all without ever feeling too contrived. While the Get Down Stay Down won’t be joining Thao for this appearance, Thao can totally get down all on her own.
