Patrick Fleming is a musician, producer, artist and filmmaker as well as having been a considerable influence on local, regional and national music scenes. He and his band, Poison Control Center, have toured extensively across the nation. His ‘offstage’ accomplishments include producing music for many successful local groups and for founding Bi-Fi Records. He is truly an ambassador for local music and for promoting the culture of central Iowa.

 

Tony Tarbox is the Music Director and PM Drive personality for KCCQ Radio in Ames. When he first began at that station in 2003, he created and hosted a local music show called “The Garage.” Following a year working the Omaha market, Tony returned to KCCQ and continues to be a strong advocate of the music being created, recorded and performed in central Iowa. Tony got his start in radio in Minneapolis at WGVX in 2001.

 

David Hurd is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Principal Financial Group and a longtime supporter of local cultural attractions, including 80/35 at a critical time in that event’s early years. The vibrancy of downtown Des Moines today is due, in part, to the civic leadership of David and the support and cooperation of the city’s businesses business community, of which he is a recognized leader emeritus.

 

Jill Haverkamp is a tireless volunteer and supporter of the central Iowa music community and is the founder and co-owner of On Pitch, a Des Moines-based music and entertainment marketing agency. She has been involved with the Des Moines Music Coalition since January, 2007. Jill holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in marketing communication and public relations with an emphasis in music business.

 

The Lutherie Shop is a Des Moines guitar shop specializing in repair and restoration of stringed instruments. Scott Rhoden and Tim Thelen created this local business that has played an integral part in ensuring that local musicians have a trustworthy and reliable resource for keeping their instruments in top shape.
