Considered by some to be “free-spirited” and “a big music fan,” Dickel’s work has allowed venues and promoters to deliver exciting events to the fans with a personal touch and at a fair price. Basically inventing her own full service ticketing system using a cooperative model that helps small to mid-size venues collaborate in their markets, Dickel’s innovative approach has helped create a better, more vibrant music scene in Des Moines.

Kathryn’s activist nature and passion for the entertainment community has guided her in creating some of the most influential and exciting events in Des Moines such as Crossroads Iowa. Along with her partner Heather Hansen, she has been a leader in the community of people making things happen. The Des Moines Music Coalition is honored to present Kathryn Dickel an award for her contributions to the Des Moines, and ultimately the Midwestern, music scene.

Awards to honor Kathryn, Jason Walsmith and Mike Butterworth, and Rob Ferguson will be presented during the DMMC’s annual fundrasier, Backstage Ball on Thursday, February 24 from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
