Congratulations Katie Byers on her recognition as the David Hurd Community Supporter of the Year at the 2017 Backstage Ball awards ceremony. Katie will be honored for her dedication to coordinating local house concerts and for helping create house venues across the country. Join us on February 24 at Streetcar 209 to celebrate individuals making noise in and about Des Moines’ music scene, and help build an even stronger, more diverse music community.

Katie Byers is a former attorney turned entrepreneur who is an avid music lover and frequent attendee at many local shows and festivals. Two years ago after being inspired by her experience at Folk Alliance International, Katie began hosting a monthly house concert series in her home to benefit local and touring musicians.  She quickly discovered that she had found her passion in life and decided to create a way to get more people across the country hosting house concerts.  Katie is the Founder & CEO of HomeDitty, a web based software built specifically for house concert hosts that is currently in Beta testing. Katie resides in Des Moines with her husband, Jay and two daughters, Sophie and Charlotte.

Join us in honoring Katie and other dedicated Des Moines music industry supporters – RSVP for Backstage Ball 2017.
