Wanted: Artist-Mentor for Music

ArtForceIowa seeks to offer struggling youth art-based solutions to their struggles. Artist-Mentors work with youth who are court-involved and live in the core of Des Moines. For more information visit artforceiowa.org or our page.

Duties-
-Lead Music Workshop weekly on Thursdays from 3-6pm.
-Work with music-interested youth individually and in groups.
-Form respectful relationships with youth, encouraging them to develop aptitudes in music as well as in life skills (ie communication, self-awareness, etc).
-Design lesson/workshop plans that engage creative thinking and work towards performance goals and culminating events.
-Willingness to collaborate/co-teach with other Artist-Mentors

Requirements-
-Patience and flexibility. Optimistic and able to creatively adapt to the situation.
-Strong knowledge or background in music
-Professional music teaching or performance experience preferred.
-Emphasis in one/or all piano, vocal, guitar, percussion skills
-Available Thursdays from 3-6 (current workshop time).

Payment – A modest weekly stipend will be paid to the Artist-Mentor
