"Underpass Logic" is the first release from BumRap, a collective of "Emcees, producers, bboys, bgirls, writers, & Dj's in the Des Moines Area, all from associated crews dedicated to building positivity in the universe and developing and preserving a progressive environment for the hip hop culture in our city, regardless of any other differences."
Featuring Aeon Grey, Asphate Woodhavet and DJ Touchnice, this album is a definite continuation from the trio's previous work on Maxilla Blue's debut album "The Beat-n-Path Vol 1." The funk and soul musical influences remain, along with the message-heavy lyrics and impeccable production- definite plusses in my book. The overall musical feel, while similar to the instrumental blended free-form flow of "The Beat-n-Path Vol 1.", offers darker, grittier nuances with tracks like "Quiet Hour" and "Vortex Complex" which I think strongly matches the rhythm and energy that Aeon Grey and Asphate Woodhavet bring to their live shows as Maxilla Blue.
The BumRap MySpace page advises us to expect an EP mid to late February and I for one am eager to hear how the sounds from "Underpass Logic" continue to evolve.
