What began as a conversation in a coffee shop has become a thriving grassroots movement of music fans, musicians and business owners who believe in the power of music. Since 2004, the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC) has put the promise of music to work for Des Moines. And it couldn’t have happened without the generous financial and volunteer support from our community.
Through festivals, concert promotions, mentorship, and our successful educational series, the DMMC doesn’t just talk—we do. And this is just the beginning. The DMMC has much more in store for the future.
We can’t do it alone. That’s why G. David Hurd, Harry & Pam Bass Bookey, and Charlotte & Fred Hubbell are hosting Backstage Ball, a special fundraiser for the DMMC. The event was previously snowed out due to the big December winter storm, and is now rescheduled for Wednesday, January 27 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at People’s Court in downtown Des Moines.
Join us for a night of inspired mingling, delicious hors d 'oeuvres and a special performance by Maximilian Eubank. We will also release news about the 2010 80/35 music festival and feature an award ceremony to honor Sam Summers (First Fleet Concerts), Brandon Darner (The Envy Corps), and Cory Konrad (DMMC Volunteer) for their outstanding contributions to leading the way in growing Des Moines’ music scene.
Tickets to Backstage Ball can be purchased at www.fundraiser.desmoinesmc.com or at the event by cash, check or credit card. All donations are tax deductible.
- Tickets are $75 per person, includes one-year membership to the DMMC. - Upgrade to a $100 ticket and receive a Backstage Ball T-shirt. - Upgrade to a $250 ticket and receive an 80/35 2010 VIP pass.
