Ford’s latest album was recorded by Mark Rubel – who has worked with Alison Krauss and Luther Allison – at Pogo Studio in Champaign, Ill. in two primary sessions – one recording the rhythm section featuring Ford, Derek Lambert on bass and Brandon Ruschill on drums, then one session adding in the horns of Donny Peterson, Kate Kennedy, Nate Logsdon, Brian Stout and C.J. Howard. Finally, Dustin Harmsen, the newest addition to the Conquered lineup, added guitar and percussion to the mix.

Ford recorded the vocals live with the band during the first session, an uncommon tactic in contemporary music but one that adds a live soulful feeling to the final product, which can be heard in the song “Let Us Not Confuse Our Thoughts With Our Beliefs,” which premiered on Popdose.com.

Along with the release of the album, Ford collaborated with Ashley and Patrick Tape Fleming to produce a music video for the song “Free to Try (But Not Always Do)” which was released Wednesday, March 21 and debuted on Consequence of Sound.

The Fate of a Good Man will be available through Maximum Ames Records (formats: LP/CD/DL). Pre-order sales feature a free download of the title track before the release, free streaming of the album three weeks in advance of the release and access to a private show in Ames, Iowa.

Ford will hold a listening party at Badower’s on Ingersoll at 5:30 p.m. on April 12, and release shows at The M-Shop in Ames with Brooks Strause and Sean Huston on April 13 at 8 p.m. and at Hotel Fort Des Moines on April 14 during Gross Domestic Product.
